Adam managed to succeed his space mission on a a mere €250 budget, with the balloon reaching an impressive 110,210ft (33,592m), three times the height of a commercial plane last Thursday.

The 19 year old who made the outer space contraption consisting of a box containing a GPS, radio and microprocessor to last for 40 hours.

After its release, the device took two and a half hours to float more than 20 miles up into the earth’s stratosphere before taking in the breathtaking footage.

The student then tracked the balloon until it came back down to Earth, just 30 miles away from his home.

Adam kept his Twitter followers updated during the mission, posting a number of space snaps on his microblogging site.

The 19 year old was delighted with the results of the mission and said: ‘The onboard video camera recorded great footage close to the ground after launch, however the lens fogged up at about 3km in altitude because moisture got in the lens, but it still looked rather impressive.’
