While dancing the American smooth led to a rough exist for the Irishman across the Irish Sea on Strictly Come Dancing, Daniel O’Donnell will be returning to our TV screens soon. The chrooner will be travelling around the island with his wife Majella, staying in a number of B&Bs – much to the delight, as the video below shows, of the owners.
Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip will be broadcast on UTV Ireland, and the first episode sees the O’Donnells arrive at Anne and Noel Sheerin’s guesthouse in Tulsk, Co Roscommon. As the car carrying the singer arrives in her driveway, Anne breaks out in the kind of euphoric excitement best associated with One Direction fans these days.
“We really enjoyed it; it was lovely,” Majella O’Donnell said of the experience. “When you’re in cities all the time, the old Irish ways seem to fall by the wayside, but I feel that we really did reach the heart of Ireland.”
“The fact that we got to interact with so many different people was, for me, the best part. We stayed in different types of houses and everyone had something to offer. It was nice to travel and see Ireland,” Daniel said.
“I have travelled Ireland umpteen times, just trying to get somewhere. This time we were really looking at it. Ireland has so much to offer – whether you’re by the coast or inland,” the singer added.
The first episode of Daniel and Majella’s B&B Road Trip will air on UTV Ireland on Monday 26 October at 8pm.
