An Irish jockey made a dramatic recovery during race in Co Cork yesterday - and even managed to push ahead to win.
Amateur jockey Michael Sweeney was riding Ask Heather - trained by Declan Queally - at a Killeagh point-to-point meeting yesterday.
During the final fence jump, Michael was thrown forward as the horse ploughed through the fence.
Despite the fumble, the jockey managed to hold on as the horse continued pushing forward.
A tense few seconds saw Ask Heather lose the lead as Michael clung to the horse's side.
Ultimately, though, he managed to right himself and settle back into the saddle.
Not only that, but he recovered in time to help push Ask Heather to victory - with a final sprint giving them a comfortable lead in the final stretch.
It was a recovery hailed as "one of the saves of all time".
