Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump has said that if elected he would send home all Syrian refugees from US soil.

During a New Hampshire rally address, the billionaire declared: "If I win, they're going back."

Mr Trump's comments mark a u-turn from early September when he told Fox News the US should be taking in more refugees to help alleviate Europe's growing migrant crisis.

Since then, the US has pledged to take 10,000 refugees from Syria next year, while up to 500,000 people have crossed the Mediterranean into Europe in 2015.

The GOP contender told an audience at Keene High School: "I'm putting the people on notice that are coming here from Syria as part of this mass migration, that if I win, if I win, they're going back."
