Treading the line between inspiration and brazen theft has been an accepted, if frowned upon, element of the story-telling business since long before the dawn of modern cinema.
But what is less known is the extent to which some film productions go beyond lifting ideas and plot points, and go ahead and take the footage from other films (or TV shows) and throw into their own work – rather than go to the hassle and expense of shooting the footage themselves.
