A group of clever Czech filmmakers has managed to perfectly recreate the experience of playing the 1999 video-game classic Grand Theft Auto 2 in real life by using a drone, actors, the game’s sound effects, and a lot of cars.

The video, going viral online, shows the games main character Claude Speed storming around the streets, answering phone calls, carjacking vehicles, and evading the police – filmed to mimic the game familiar to anyone playing it in the late 90s. The video even includes one of the game’s ‘Kill Frenzy’ missions, where Claude is tasked with shooting dead a number of gang members, police officers, ambulance staff, and any unfortunate innocent bystanders who get in the way; the casual violence of the game helped turn it into a cult classic.

GTA2, with its overhead gameplay, is now far removed from the franchise’s newest games, which are international bestsellers and critically acclaimed for their storylines. Many celebrities have lent their voices to the games, including Samuel L Jackson, Ray Liotta, Phil Collins, and Ricky Gervais.
