Variable weather conditions are coming for the rest of the week.

A jet stream is passing over Ireland - bringing with it some wet, dry and sunny weather.

Later in the week it will turn colder for most places.

Met Éirenn says Tuesday will be a mostly dry day with sunny spells or hazy sunshine and some showers in the north.

We will see top temperatures 12 to 15 degrees in mainly moderate westerly breezes.

It will be cloudy Tuesday night in the west and north, with patchy rain and temperatures not falling below 10 degrees.

Wednesday will brings outbreaks of rain, turning heavy and persistent - cloudy over Connacht and Ulster.

Mainly dry over Leinster and Munster in the morning and early afternoon with a little hazy sunshine - then rain developing in the afternoon and evening.

Thursday will be a fresh, breezy day with some bright or sunny spells and dry apart from well scattered light showers.

Friday will see dry weather and some sunny spells with light to moderate west to northwest winds.
