After being bounced around the US postal service for almost 30 years, a Father’s Day card has finally been delivered to a man in Virginia – sent from his son who died of AIDS in 1995.
87-year-old Duane Schrock Sr received the card 26 years after his estranged son Duane Jr sent the card, with the envelope revealing that it had been sent and resent trying to make its way to him as he moved around.
Duane Jr died in 1995, at the age of 45 of an AIDS-related illness. According to ABC News, Duane Sr didn’t “agree with his son’s homosexual lifestyle – and their relationship was, at time, tumultuous.”
In the Father’s Day card, Duane Jr writes, "Dear, Dad, we haven't been in touch for quite a while, I'm doing fine and am very happy in Richmond, I'd like to hear from you. Have a Happy Father's Day, Love Duane."
