Visitors to the Cliffs of Moher are being asked to only use the official path at the popular tourist site and not to stray off to the cliff edge.

Due to recent landslides at the attraction the cliff edge had become very unstable.

In a Facebook post a spokesperson said: "The official path is the inner path. The bare earth track is not a path, it has been created by walkers outside the path."

The Cliffs are the most visited natural attraction in Ireland with up to a million visitors attending it each year.

Standing 214 metres at their highest point they stretch for eight kilometres along the Atlantic coast of count Clare.
