Scientists are amazed at a new recording from the Mariana Trench, which shows a new species of fish at an amazing 8,143m depth.

Previously, it was thought that only the snailfish could survive at such extreme pressure.

The footage was captured by a team of scientists from the University of Aberdeen during a 30 day expedition.

"This really deep fish did not look like anything we had seen before, nor does it look like anything we know of. It is unbelievably fragile, with large wing-like fins and a head resembling a cartoon dog," aid Alan Jamieson, a scientist from the university.
