The Tánaiste has admitted that members of her party are concerned at how Irish Water deals with complaints and customer care.

Joan Burton's comments come after a Fine Gael parliamentary meeting last night, which saw members express anger over how their constituents' complaints were handled.

According to the Irish Independent, some Government TDs now fear the matter could escalate into a fiasco on the scale of the medical cards issue.

Joan Burton says some of her backbenchers are concerned, and Irish Water must address its communications problem as people are left waiting for long periods on its helpline:

A Fine Gael backbencher, meanwhile, has said there is disquiet among members on the issue of Irish Water. 

Marcella Corcoran Kennedy told Breakfast the communication around the setting up of the utility could have been better, but she said the Taoiseach is dealing with the concerns:
