Being stuck in a plane while it's still on the runway is one of the more frustrating experiences in modern life.

Only metres away from a (relatively) comfortable terminal, with the in-flight entertainment turned off, you're left to busy yourself with the airline's glossy magazine that tells you all about the great movies you can't watch.

But what if there was another form of entertainment - perhaps a bunch of elderly men who could reel off a few barbershop covers to ease the boredom?

As unlikely as it sounds, that's exactly what happened to Kari Mann while her flight to New Orleans was kept grounded for maintenance in early January.

According to her description of the video on YouTube, the quartet's cover of the haunting 'Under the Boardwalk' by the Drifters did just the trick:

"It was such a great moment... The mood changed and our passengers were awesome for the whole 5 hours they were on the plane!"
