Skateboarding has long-since broken through to the mainstream. Parkour lost its edge once James Bond indulged in some big-screen urban traversal. There is a need for a new underground, anti-establishment, extreme sports craze.

Ladies and gentlemen, prepare your wheelbarrows. 

That's what Siggi from Paderborn in Germany did when he decked out his 'caterpillar 24 carat gold sport-barrow' and took to the streets.

The whole thing looks absolutely ludicrous - that goes without saying. But it also seems like a whole lot of fun. Siggi manages to pull off some sick twists and grinds, which undoubtedly helps the case for wheelbarrow-skating.

You might ask 'why?', but on the evidence of this video the correct response is a firm 'why not?':
