The producers of the new 'Star Wars' film have donated €10,0000 to Valentia Lifeboat as a thank you.

Crews from the Hollywood blockbuster have been filming scenes from the latest movie on Skellig Michael over the past month.

Local newspaper Kerry's Eye reports that just before finishing up, they gifted Valentia Lifeboat €10,000.

Operations manager Richard Foran told the paper it was a complete surprise - and the filmmakers wanted the donation to be low-key, declining an offer of a photocall.
