Up to one thousand Gardaí could be investigated over the recent breath test controversy.
Today's Sunday Independent reports that members of the force may be investigated after a report found that 1.5 million fake tests were recorded.
The Justice Minister has referred to the scandal as a "very dark chapter" in the history of the Gardaí.
Charlie Flanagan says he will have a zero tolerance approach to Gardaí who knowingly submitted false tests, and has not ruled out the possibility of dismissals.
Meanwhile, Minister Flnagan also stated he still has confidence in Nóirín O'Sullivan, but refused to say whether he believes the Garda Commissioner would still be in the position next year.
