Police in London believe an 11-year-old missing girl may be in Ireland. The Metropolitan Police say Kathleen Doherty disappeared from the Greenford area of London.

Her 14-year-old sister was found last night in north London. Biddy Doherty is now in the care of the local authority there.

However detectives believe Kathleen may have been taken to Ireland. They are appealing to the public, specifically the travelling community, for help in finding her.

Kathleen has connections in the Edgware and Harrow areas of London, but police say she could be anywhere in Ireland or the UK.

The UK High Court has ordered that she be returned to the care of the local authority.

Gardai are now assisting British police with the investigation.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Garda Confidential Line on 1800-666-111 or Crimestoppers at 1800-25-00-25.

Anyone with information in the UK is asked to call police on 101. Alternatively call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
