Met Éireann has issued two status yellow rainfall warnings for a number of counties across Ireland.

The first warning applies to Offaly, Limerick and Tipperary, with rainfall totals of 30 to 40mm expected

A second warning for Galway, Mayo, Clare and Kerry, where rainfall totals of 40 to 50mm are expected - with forecasters saying those totals could be higher on hills and mountains.

Both warnings are valid from 6pm this evening (Friday) until 6pm tomorrow.

Status yellow is the lowest level weather warning issued by Met Éireann, and warns of weather conditions that "do not pose an immediate threat to the general population".

However, the Road Safety Authority is urging drivers to take extra care on the roads during the heavy rain.
