Two men have been killed after gunmen opened fire in a café in the northern city of Basel in Switzerland.
A third person was critically injured in the attack.
A Basel police officer told the Associated Press that the attack was a “local incident” that was not related to terrorism.
Police are still investigating the incident and the officer reportedly spoke on condition of anonymity.
A statement from the office of the local prosecutor in the city said the gunman entered the café shortly after 8pm and opened fire.
It is believed they then escaped in the direction of a nearby train station and remain at large.
The scene has been preserved and forensic teams are collecting evidence.
The motive for the attack remains unclear.
