Two men have been charged in connection with burglaries in the Blackrock area of south Dublin.

The men were initially arrested following a high-speed chase on the M50 motorway on Thursday night.

It happened after gardaí investigating several burglaries in Blackrock noticed a car acting suspiciously in Tallaght.

A car chase began after the Garda Air Support Unit spotted the same car at the Sandyford junction of the M50.

The chase lasted for over 100km and finally ended on the M1 outside Dundalk.

Investigators said four people abandoned the car on the north side of the Co Louth town and fled into nearby fields.

During the chase, gardaí recovered property from one Blackrock property on the M50.

The two men who were charged are aged in their 20s and are due to appear at Dun Laoghaire District Court tomorrow morning.

A teenager has been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Juvenile Liaison Office.

Gardaí say that investigations are ongoing.
