Two men have been arrested after an aggravated burglary in Co Longford during which a family was held at knifepoint.
It happened at around 1.30am this morning in Edgeworthstown, when men entered a house and threatened the occupants.
Those living in the house raised the alarm and gardaí arrived as the intruders made off.
A 41-year-old was arrested after gardaí gave chase on foot, and a 24-year-old man was arrested nearby during a follow-up operation.
All property taken during the burglary has been recovered and a car has been seized.
The two men are being detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Granard and Longford Garda stations.
