The army bomb disposal team was called out to deal with 2 viable explosive devices in Sligo last night.

Gardaí were alerted after they were found in the Tonaphuble area of the town.

The Army bomb squad was dispatched to the scene.

They made one device safe there by controlled explosion while the second was brought to a secure military location for further examination.

The scene was declared safe at a quarter to midnight.

The road has now reopened this morning but Gardaí are still at the scene.
