A post mortem is due to take place today on the bodies of a man and a woman found dead in Carlow.
The remains of the couple in their 50's were discovered with gunshot wounds in a Bed and Breakfast in the town yesterday afternoon.
The room at the Stonehaven B&B on Centaur Street, in which the remains were found has been sealed off. A firearm was also found at the scene.
Security Editor with the Irish Independent Tom Brady says Gardai are not believed to be looking for a third party in their investigation.
Not thought to be local
The man and woman - both believed to be aged in thier 50s - are not thought to be from the local area.
The Garda Technical Bureau and the State Pathologist's Office were both at the scene yesterday.
Post mortems are due to take place today at Naas General Hospital.
The identity of the two people is not known.
Gardai are appealing to anyone who was in the area of Centaur Street between 10pm last night and 1pm today - or who may have seen anything unusual - to contact Carlow Garda Station at 059-9136620, the Confidential Line on 1-800 666-111 or any Garda Station.
