Two men are being questioned by Gardai in Dublin in connection with the murder of a Tallaght man in 2002.

David McCreevy was gunned down outside his parents home in Belgard Heights in Tallaght in a gangland style killing.

At the time of his murder Mr. McCreevy was out on bail awaiting trial on charges arising from a Garda crackdown on heroin dealing. He had been arrested in connection with the seizure of 150,000 euro worth of heroin and cannabis earlier that year.

He was shot 5 times in the body and face as he left his parent's home just after 9am on February 1st 2011. The gunman had been hiding in a nearby van.

He emerged as Mr. McCreevy left for work and opened fire before making his escape on the back of a high-powered motorbike.

Two men in their 30s were arrested this morning by special detectives as part of an on ongoing investigation into his murder.

They are being held at Tallaght Garda station where they can be questioned for up to 72 hours.
