Two men have been arrested as part of the investigation into Anglo Irish Bank.

The former Anglo Irish Bank Director Willie McAteer was detained this morning while a second man aged in his 50s has also been arrested.

Both men will appear before Dublin District Court this afternoon.

56-year-old Mr. McAteer was detained this morning and is being held at the Bridewell Garda Station in Dublin.

He is charged in connection with alleged financial irregularities at the institution.

This is the 3rd time Mr. McAteer has been arrested.

He was questioned in 2010 and 2011 as part of the on-going investigation by the Garda Fraud Squad and the Office of the Director of Corporate Enforcement into alleged financial irregularities at Anglo Irish Bank.

The investigation has also led to a second arrest today of another male in his 50s.
