Prosecutors in Belgium say two men suspected of planning a terror attack in the country have been arrested.
The men, named only as Nourredine H and his brother Hamza H, were arrested after a series of houses searches carried out yesterday evening in the Mons and Liège areas.
No weapons or explosives were found.
The federal prosecution office said in a statement: "Based on provisional results from the investigation, it appears that there were plans to carry out an attack somewhere in Belgium."
A judge will later decide whether they should be detained in custody beyond an initial 24 hours.
Federal prosecutors said in a statement there is currently no connection between the arrests and the Brussels attacks in March.
Belgium is on security alert three out of a maximum of four, meaning a "serious" status with a "possible and probable" threat.
