Two men have been arrested following a taxi hijacking in Dublin early this morning.
Shortly after 2:30am, two men - ahead 20 and 21 - were being taken by taxi from O'Connell Street in the city centre to Ballymun.
As the taxi entered Ballymun, one of the men threatened the taxi driver with a knife, and ordered him out of the vehicle.
A small amount of cash was also stolen.
The taxi driver alerted gardaí and, following a search of the area, the taxi was located on the Old Airport Road close to Ballymun.
Two men were subsequently arrested nearby and are being held at Mountjoy garda station under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act.
Gardaí say the taxi driver was uninjured and investigations are continuing.
