Today

Humid once again today with quite extensive mist and fog to start. Some sunshine breaking through this morning but in general it will be cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain. Heavy downpours will develop in places during the afternoon with the risk of thunder and localised spot flooding.

The rain will be heaviest and most persistent across the northern half of the country. A clearance will reach the southwest in the evening and it will turn noticeably fresher here.

Minimum temperatures of 10 to 13 degrees in moderate southwesterly winds.

Weather warning

Rainfall warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal

Some very heavy or thundery downpours are likely at times on Tuesday, mainly in parts of Connacht and Ulster with local spot flooding.
