A few bright or sunny spells this morning. Becoming cloudier and windier with showers developing widely.

The showers will be frequent and blustery this afternoon – some heavy with the risk of hail.

Southwest winds veering west will increase gale force with some severe gusts or squalls later - especially in the north.

A cold day. Highest temperatures 7 to 9 degrees.

Tonight

Staying very blustery with further showers early tonight.

West to northwest winds easing a little overnight and showers becoming more isolated.

Clear spells. Cold. Minimum temperatures 2 to 5 degrees.

Status Orange - Wind warning for Donegal, Leitrim, Mayo and Sligo

As storm Gareth approaches, westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 65 to 75km/h with damaging gusts reaching 110 to 130km/h.

There is also the risk of coastal flooding due to high seas.

Westerly winds will reach mean speeds of 50 to 65km/h and gusts of 90 to 110km.
