The trial of a well-known Irish celebrity accused of engaging in sexual activity with a 16-year-old girl has heard he will never work again if he’s found guilty.

The man has denied the three charges against him, which are alleged to have happened in 2010.

The man, who can’t be named for legal reasons, is accused of engaging in three sexual acts with the girl – twice in his home and once in his workplace.

He was in his 20s at the time and she was 16 years old; however, he denies they happened.

In his closing speech this morning, the barrister for the defence said it is the man’s case that nothing sexual ever happened between them before the girl’s 17th birthday.

He said the celebrity’s life hangs in the balance – and he won’t work again if he is convicted.

He said it’s the prosecution’s case that the man is a sex offender, that his parents raised a sex offender and he urged the jury to imagine the enormity of it.

He asked the jurors to look to their conscience and consider the facts, adding that he believes the only result could be ‘not guilty.’
