It appears that bras from Marks and Spencer's are setting off security alarms at airports.
Since the discovery, aggrieved consumers have posted complaints on Twitter about the invasive body searches and are cautioning other holiday goers, to avoid suffering the same inconvenience at the airport.
Apparently, the M&S branded bras, contain a special metal which other retailers do not use and this could be contributing to the garments triggering the alarm.
The company, which sells 23m bras a year says it is investigating the problem and has tweeted to say it's "on a mission to get this fixed".
@marksandspencer Brand new bra for holidays just got me a private search at the airport! Mortified!! M&S bras must be made of sturdy stuff!

luton airport security searched me rather carefully as my bra made a 'significant bleep'. M&S bras seem to be the cause!

Ha! I just got taken away by Heathrow Airport security police! "Mam, you're bleeping all over." Turns out M&S (not S&M) bras set them off?!
