A British traveller has been reunited with his travel photos after losing his camera on the other side of the world.

ITV News reports that Chris Heresford, 22, from London, was half-way through a trip around the world when he lost his camera at an Australian beach.

Luckily, the camera was spotted by Steve Carmody, who found it in the surf of on Fingal Beach in News South Wales, Australia, about 100km from where it was lost.

The camera was a write-off, but Carmody recovered the memory card and posted a photo to Facebook that later went viral.

Carmody commented on the post, dated January 20, with an update on Tuseday:

"Chris Hesford [sic] has just contacted me from London. Mission complete."

Heresford was delighted at the news:

"I was astonished - I thought it was lost for good.

"I couldn't believe it - I thought at first he was pulling my leg, but he wasn't, and now the camera is in the post on its way to me. What a nice guy."
