Emergency services have attended the scene of a crash on Dublin's M50 this afternoon.

The incident is understood to be causing severe delays to traffic on the route southbound between the Junction 12 Firhouse and Junction 13 Ballinteer.

It is not known at this stage if anyone has been injured.

The incident comes as motorists are being advised to use public transport in the city centre due to Luas cross city works at O'Connell Bridge.

The Dublin city centre bridge will remain closed throughout this weekend until 6am on Tuesday morning.
