The High Court has heard a significant number of jobs may be saved at insolvent trucking company Target Express which ceased trading earlier this week over a Revenue debt.

Another player in the market Masterlink Logistics Ltd is to take over some of the assets of the businesses including the name, the goodwill of the company and its customer list.

The Health Minister says he will not be able to make the savings needed next year unless the Croke Park Agreement is renegotiated.

But the comments from James Reilly have not found favour with a Cabinet colleague who says so long as the agreement delivers the government will stick with it.

Solicitors for Sean Quinn and his family have informed the High Court that they will no longer be representing them in 2 legal actions involving the former Anglo Irish Bank.

The Quinns say they are annoyed and frustrated to confirm that due to their financial position, they’ve been forced to let go of their legal team

Barrister Brian O’Moore informed the court that Eversheds solicitors are prepared to act on one matter and that the upcoming Supreme Court appeal by Sean Quinn Junior over the contempt of court finding that has landed him in jail.

In a statement the Quinn family have thanked Eversheds for past service and claim their current disastrous scenario is one strategically orchestrated by Anglo.

A Pakistani chef who claims he worked under forced labour conditions at a Dublin restaurant says he has been the victim of an injustice.

It comes after the High Court today overturned a Labour Court ruling ordering the Poppadom Restaurant in Newlands Cross to hand over €86,000 in back pay to Muhammad Younis.

But the court has found he is unprotected under the 2003 Employment Permits Act because he is ‘undocumented’.

This means he will not receive the money.

Thousands of people have arrived at the Electric Picnic venue in Co. Laois.

Gardai and AA Roadwatch say traffic in and around Stradbally is heavy but moving well.
