The Government’s budget watchdog says its wrong for the coalition to rule out social welfare cuts and tax increases.

The Fiscal Advisory Council also wants the Finance Minister to impose an additional €1.9 billion in budgetary cuts in addition to whats already planned for the next 3 years.

The council says it would help the economy recover more quickly.

But the Taoiseach says the Government won’t be bound by what the Fiscal Advisory Council says.

And Enda Kenny says the course already being plotted by the coalition has the backing of the troika:

Around €30,000 of what’s believed to be the drug Mandy, has been discovered by Gardai in Co. Cork.

Officers made the discovery following a search of a field in Bishopstown in Co. Cork.

Earlier this week the HSE issued a warning about the substance after two men in their 20′s were found dead in a house in Kinsale.

It’s believed Mandy may have been a factor in their deaths.

Gardai are examining the possibility the drug was dumped in the wake of their deaths and the subsequent appeals.

The Sinn Féin President says paramilitary groups and their activity like that displayed at a funeral in Dublin last weekend “should go”.

Gerry Adams says the firing of shots at Alan Ryan’s funeral on Saturday was wrong.

Garda have arrested 15 men and a woman at addresses in Dublin, Kildare and Meath today.

Mr Adams says people should assist Gardai in making sure this activity is ended:

The body of a man has been recovered from the river at Macroom in Co Cork.

Gardai are investigating.

However its thought his death may have been accidental.

The body of the man, whom its thought may be local, was recovered at around 12.30.
