Dry in eastern areas at first today. But the rain in western coastal counties, will extend eastwards through the morning, to affect all areas by early afternoon.
Brighter, drier conditions, with scattered showers, will follow from the west, this afternoon and early evening. Cold and breezy, with top temperatures of just 7 to 10 C., in fresh and gusty southerly winds, which will veer westerly later.
Tonight
Cold tonight with clear spells and showers. Most of the showers will be in the western half of the country. Many will be heavy and some will fall as hail or sleet. There will be a few thunderstorms also.
Lowest temperatures plus 1 to -2 C, with a sharp to severe frost and some icy stretches on roads.
