Commuters Ciaran O'Keeffe and his fiancée Geraldine McCauley met across a crowded train over two years ago, but as the couple did their final commute as singletons today, before heading off to get hitched, Irish Rail surprised Geraldine with some "in flight" bubbly, flowers and even a crooner. 

Heineken is believed to be in takeover talks with an Irish company

Newstalk has learned that Heineken Ireland is in discussions that may lead to the acquisition of partial takeover of Comans Wholesale, one of the country’s leading drinks distribution businesses.

Industry sources suggest that any full takeover of Comans Wholesale could cost Heineken in the region of €25 million.

he children of Jason Corbett are at the centre of a custody hearing in North Carolina later today.

The Limerick man died during an alleged domestic incident at his home in America last week.

Jason Corbett's children from his first marriage - 10-year-old Jack and 8-year-old Sarah - are currently in the care of Mr Corbett's second wife, Molly Martens-Corbett.

She is one of the main suspects in the case, as police say Mr Corbett's father-in-law is also a person of interest. Mr Corbett's brother-in-law, David Lynch, is due to ask the court for custody of the children.

DNA test frees man in the US after 34 years in prison

A Pennsylvania man who spent more than three decades behind bars for the rape and murder of a 15-year-old girl has been freed after a DNA test.

A judge voided 63-year-old Lewis Fogle's 1982 conviction on Thursday. Fogle, who had denied shooting Deann Long in the head in 1976, told WPXI-TV upon release that he was looking forward to a steak dinner.

His tearful wife, Deb Fogle, who wed him three months before his conviction, was waiting for him outside court and said she always believed he would be cleared.

Hunter told Ger that Pedro is generally "very placid" but was annoyed by comments saying that World Cup winner wanted to leave the Camp Nou. He added that Barcelona's intensity in the Super Cup was impressive and the team have come back "hungry enough" to dominate again this season.
