One person has died and another in critical condition following industrial accident in Co Dublin

he HSA and gardaí are investigating after a man died and another was left in a critical condition following an industrial accident in north County Dublin.

Emergency services were called to the scene at about 2 o'clock this afternoon.

The men were working on a sewer at Drumnigh Wood Housing estate in Portmarnock, when one man collapsed into the pit.

The second man came to his rescue, but was also overcome by fumes.

An Australian commentator has apologised for controversial remarks he made about Ireland on TV.

Grahame Morris claimed the country has a "mutant lawn weed" as its national symbol, and people "can't verbalise the difference between a tree and the number three".

At the beginning of this month, Mr Morris launched the anti-Irish tirade after members of the Australian opposition called for a vote on gay marriage.
