Tobacco worth more than €320,000 has been seized at Dublin Port.
Revenue officers yesterday stopped and searched two separate shipments which originated in Belgium.
Around 600kg of illegal tobacco branded ‘Virginia Yellow ’ and ‘Virginia English’ was discovered.
The tobacco was found hidden in shipments described as 'motor parts'.
It's said to have a retail value of over €320,000, as well as representing a potential loss to the Exchequer of around €275,000.
Revenue said the seizures came as part of their operations "targeting the supply and sale of illegal tobacco products in the shadow economy".
They add that their investigation into yesterday's seizure is ongoing.
