One of the main investigators into Bobby Ryan’s murder has said he was told the local DJ had suffered multiple injuries.

He was giving evidence at the trial of 50-year-old farmer Patrick Quirke from Breanshamore, Co. Tipperary – who denies murdering Mr Ryan.

Bobby Ryan went missing on June 3rd 2011.

His last reported sighting was leaving the home of his girlfriend Mary Lowry at Fawnagown, County Tipperary at around 6:30am that day.

Patrick Quirke, who had an affair with Mrs Lowry before she started seeing Mr Ryan, found his body in an underground tank on her land in April 2013.

Under cross-examination this afternoon, Garda Superintendent Patrick O’Callaghan was asked why investigators did not wait for a pathologist to arrive before they removed the body.

He said the decision to attend scenes rests with the pathologist and the indication was that he was not willing to travel to the scene.

The court heard former deputy State Pathologist Dr Khalid Jaber also refused to attend the trial to give evidence about his post-mortem.

Superintendent O’Callaghan said he was present when the examination was carried out.

He told the jury that Dr Jaber told him that Mr Ryan had multiple injuries that could have been the result of an accident, traffic collision or serious assault.
