A man in his 20s has died in a road crash in Co Tipperary.

It happened on the R689 at Fennor, Urlingford at approximately 8.45pm last night.

A 25-year-old motorcyclist was fatally injured when his motorcycle collided with a sign.

He was pronounced dead at the scene, and his body was removed to Kilkenny Hospital.

This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination, and local diversions are in place.

Gardai in Thurles are appealing for witnesses to the crash to contact them.
