An ad campaign on Tinder highlighting human trafficking was among the winners at the annual Institute of Creative Advertising and Design (ICAD) last week.
Recognising the very best in Irish creativity and design, a total of two gold, 15 silver and 65 bronze ICAD awards, or ‘Bells’, were handed out at the event in Vicar Street last Thursday.
Many of Ireland’s most talented advertising and design agencies were awarded on the night, with some of the highlights including:
- A gold was awarded, in the print design category, for the An Post Science series of stamps, designed by Detail Design Studio
- A second gold was awarded to Eighty Twenty, in the category of digital advertising, for its Tinder campaign highlighting human trafficking for the Immigrant Council of Ireland
- Rothco won 15 awards - the highest number of bells overall
- The Irish Examiner won the ICAD Client award for its role in encouraging creativity in advertising based on its press and radio campaigns created by Chemistry
- The widely applauded Glasnevin ‘surnames’ outdoor poster campaign for Glasnevin Trust received a bronze bell for its creators, Brand Artillery

- In the Irish Year of Design in 2015 a record number of entries were received in the design category with 120 submissions and 19 bells awarded
All commended and winning work is available to view online.
Commenting on this year’s awards, Elaine McDevitt, Managing Director, ICAD said: “Once again the standard of entries was really high demonstrating some serious creative talent from agencies in Ireland. To have your work commended is a great achievement in itself and the winners can take great pride in the work they entered. When you want to stand out amongst the myriad of media competing for people’s attention nothing speaks more clearly, or leaves a more lasting impression, than a great idea.
"This year those ideas were in abundance and ICAD is delighted to continue to reward and recognise these through our awards,” Ms McDevitt added.
The oldest creative organisation of its kind in Europe ICAD is Ireland’s pre-eminent creative body and the annual awards are the greatest opportunity for Irish creatives to have their best work recognised and rewarded by their peers.
In total over 560 advertising, craft and design pieces were entered into the awards across print, digital, TV/cinema and radio.
For nearly 60 years the ICAD Bell has remained a coveted prize within Ireland’s creative community.
