Greece has tabled a proposal document which seems to have been well received by its creditors - during the prolonged bargaining process we have never been this close to a deal actually happening - but there are still a series of potential flashpoints to be negotiated.
Here's the timeline for the next 72 hours:
- Proposals were submitted to Brussels last night - the austerity heavy package is to be debated in the parliament in Athens and will be voted on before the end of the day. The majority of the cabinet have already accepted the new proposals.
- News broke this morning that IMF chief Christine Lagarde, ECB president Mario Draghi, European Commission President Jean Claude Juncker and Eurogroup president Jeroen Dijsselbloem have scheduled a lunchtime meeting.
- Officials in Brussels are currently reviewing the Greek document - a report will be sent to the Euro Working Group.
- The Euro Working Group will meet on Saturday morning - it will pass on recommendations to the Eurogroup of finance ministers.
- The Eurogroup will meet at 3pm, GMT on Saturday to discuss the reforms.
- Finally, a EU leader summit will take place on Sunday.
The Greek parliament could be the most volatile stage of this process - it is believed that the deal which Greece has put on the table involves harsher austerity measures than those which were rejected by the country in last weekend's referendum.
This is likely to be sold as a trade off for debt relief - which could offer a more longterm solution to Greece's problems than prior proposals had.
