March 2012: Denis O’Brien’s Millington buys Siteserv for €45.4 million. The deal saw State-owned Irish Bank Resolution Corporation (IBRC, formerly Anglo Irish Bank) write off €110 million of its €150 million debt.
July 2013: Subsidiary of Siteserv announced as one of three companies awarded contracts for water meter installations for Irish Water.
April 21st, 2015: Independent TD Catherine Murphy obtains documents under the Freedom of Information Act, which reveal tensions between IBRC and the Government over Siteserv deal.
April 22nd, 2015: Former chairman of the IBRC Alan Dukes “categorically rejects” suggestions of impropriety in Siteserv sale, as Opposition TDs call for full independent inquiry.
April 23rd, 2015: Government announces a review of IBRC deals, including Siteserv.
April 27th, 2015: Retired High Court judge Iarlaith O’Neill appointed to monitor any conflicts of interest during the review of the sale of SiteServ.
May 7th, 2015: Murphy claims under Dáil privilege that insider trading may have occurred in Siteserv shares.
May 11th, 2015: O’Brien takes interim injunction to stop RTE broadcasting a report about his banking affairs with IBRC.
May 21st, 2015: O’Brien and IBRC win High Court orders against RTÉ stopping the businessman's confidential arrangements with the bank being published or broadcast.
May 28th, 2015: Murphy references, again under Dáil privilege, more detail pertaining to O’Brien’s banking arrangements with IBRC. O’Brien claims information was “erroneous” and that it was an abuse of Dáil privilege.
May 29th, 2015: Many media outlets refrained from publishing Murphy’s statements. RTÉ issue a statement saying they intend to make a court application for permission to broadcast the TD’s comments.
June 2nd, 2015: Murphy’s statements were permitted to be reported after Justice Donald Binchy says court is not entitled to restrain reporting of Dáil business. Justice Binchy shed light on the issue after RTE and the Irish Times sought clarification in the High Court on the issue.
June 2nd, 2015: Denis O'Brien issues statement on judgement and calls on Deputy Murphy to stand over her Dáíl statements.
