US golfer Tiger Woods has been taken to hospital after being injured in a car crash in Los Angeles County.

Mr Woods was the only person in the car when it crashed at around 7am this morning local time.

His agent told Golf Digest the golfer's now in surgery after suffering 'multiple leg injuries'.

Police say Mr Woods had to be cut from the wreckage of his vehicle, which sustained 'major damage'.

Footage shows the badly damaged car lying on its side some way off the road.

Mr Woods has now been taken to local hospital where he's being treated for injuries.
