Today

Sharp frost in most areas this morning with some icy patches and with mist and fog in places.

Today will be dry with sunny spells in many areas.

However, fog may linger in places.

Very cold in Ulster and Connacht with temperatures of 3 to 6 degrees.

Milder to the south and east with values of 6 to 10 degrees.

Northeast winds will be mostly light, but will be fresh at times along south and southeast coasts.

Tonight

Tonight will be dry and very cold with frost and fog returning and with lowest temperatures of -5 to 0 degrees.

Not quite as cold along the east coast with lows of 0 to +2 degrees.

Weather warning

A status yellow low temperature warning for Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan and Donegal is in place until 10.00am
