The army bomb disposal squad has made safe three viable pipe bombs in Limerick this morning. They were found in an unoccupied house in the Ballysheedy area after they were uncovered during a garda search just before 3am this morning.
Explosives experts arrived at the scene at about 6am this morning and made the devices safe without the need for a controlled explosion.
Shotgun ammunition was also found at the house which remains sealed off this morning for a technical examination. Gardai say the devices have been removed for technical and ballistics tests.
The Defence forces says that due to the location, there was no need to evacuate other properties. But a cordon was put in place "for public safety".
The area was declared safe at 7.30am.
