Three staff members at the Áras Attracta home in Swinford, County Mayo have been taken off duty with pay by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
In a statement, the HSE says it has taken the action as a protective measure for both the residents and the staff members concerned - pending the results of their investigation into alleged abuse at the facility.
One care assistant has also been placed under increased supervision while on duty.
The HSE says it wants to reassure families and residents at Áras Attracta that plans are in place to ensure there is no disruption to services.
Last week the executive said it is engaged in hiring more staff at the home.
It came after HIQA proposed cancelling registration for part of the facility, which caters for people with challenging behaviour.
Six people are facing charges of assaulting residents at the home, after a documentary was broadcast last year on RTÉ.
