Three people have died and 22 others have been injured after a car crashed into a crowd of spectators in the US.

The incident happened during the Oklahoma State University homecoming parade.

Police arrested driver Adacia Chambers, 25, under suspicion of driving while under the influence of alcohol.

"We treat these like we would any homicide investigation," Stillwater police Capt. Kyle Gibbs said. "It'll probably take several days to get additional information as to the cause of the accident"

The university said on Twitter: "Oklahoma State University is saddened by the tragic parade incident earlier this morning. Our thoughts & prayers are with those affected".
