US blocked Ireland burning Anglo bondholders

Ireland could have saved over €3bn by burning Anglo's bondholders - but the US stepped in to block a deal.

That is according to a top civil servant giving evidence at the Banking Inquiry this morning.

Burton: Two secondary children's hospitals to be applied for in Dublin

The Tánaiste Joan Burton says secondary children's hospitals will be applied for at sites in Dublin as part the new national children's hospital.

Sir Nicholas Winton, who organised the rescue of 669 children destined for Nazi concentration camps, has died aged 106.

Mr Winton, sometimes referred to as the "British Schindler" was working as a stock broker when he arranged trains to carry Jewish children from occupied Prague to Britain.

Dijsselbloem: No more discussion until after referendum

Eurozone finance ministers say they won't consider Greece's request for a third bailout until after Sunday's referendum.

After a conference call this afternoon ministers say it's important to know whether the Greek people want to continue talks on a deal.

Earlier the Greek prime minister Alexis Tsipras appeared to rule out accepting any further austerity, despite writing to Troika leaders saying he would accept most of the conditions attached to previous offers.
