Police in Switzerland say 5 people have died after a shooting in a town north-west of Zurich.

Detectives are trying to work out the motive.

They say the suspect appears to have taken his own life and that he was related to some of the victims.

Gardaí investigating the shooting of a 42-year-old man in Limerick yesterday have made an arrest.

Detectives say the victim was hit by a man on a bike, who opened fire as he approached a premises on the Hyde Road, at around 2 in the afternoon.

Gardaí later arrested a 22 year old - they also recovered a gun and ammunition.

The Transport Minister says the current coalition Government will serve out its full term in office.

That's despite a report in the Sunday Independent today claiming Fine Gael Ministers are looking for an early poll as tensions mount with Labour.

The paper also says there's pressure from backbench TDs who want the public to vote while there's good news on the economic front.

Graham Dwyer has until close of business tomorrow to lodge an appeal against his conviction for the murder of childcare worker Elaine O'Hara in August 2012.

The 42-year-old architect from Kerrymount Close, Foxrock, County Dublin was sentenced to life in prison last month after a jury at the Central Criminal Court found him unanimously guilty.

The President of Cuba has thanked Pope Francis for helping negotiate the recent rapprochement between Cuba and the US.

Raul Castro joked that he would "resume praying and turn to the Church again" if the Pope continued to help his country.
